South America's biggest satellite system
Star One, a subsidiary of Embratel, operates the major satellite system in South America.
Currently it has four communications satellites in a 36,000 km high geostationary orbit, located at 65W longitude (Star One C1), 70W longitude (Brasilsat B4), 84W longitude (Brasilsat B3), 92W longitude (Brasilsat B2 ? inclined orbit). Additionally, the company will launch in 2008 Star One C2, a hybrid satellite (C and Ku bands) to ensure the Hot Position maintenance at 70W position to replace Brasilsat B4 satellite.
In order to accommodate its growth, Star One acquired in 2005 most part of the South American beam of SES Americom?s AMC 12 satellite called Star One C12.
Star One offers various satellite applications, including: Digital TV Stations, Providers, Telephone Carriers, Corporate Networks, Broadcasting and high speed satellite Internet transmission, as well as occasional events like sports, news, and many others.
