Today Embratel is Brazil's major provider of Internet access, controlling 85% of the total, ever-growing number of users in the country. Currently, connections amount to over 3 Gbps (gigabytes per second), which is seven and a half times the capacity of all the other Internet backbones together. Embratel's backbone increased 24 times in four years.
For the last four years Embratel has invested around R$ 6 billion in the improvement of its equipment, installation and services.
Grupo Embratel has around 11.000 employees all over the country, and since 2001 it has been equipped with Brazil's most advanced test and simulation laboratory: the Technological Reference Center (CTR) built on the Technological Center at Ilha do Fundaõ, in Rio de Janeiro.
Making plans for the future, Embratel will continue to be committed with enhancing a straight relationship with its customers, always looking for new ways of meeting their needs.
