Making communications easier since 1965.

Do you remember how it was making a phone call in 1965, before Embratel existed? And what about a long distance call? Sometimes we had to wait for it the whole day through. At that time Brazil had only 1.326.000 terminals, three microwave systems (Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Campinas, Rio de Janeiro-Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro-Brasília) and a few radio circuits connecting the capital of the country to the state capitals. International communications were provided through only 39 voice circuits and a few telegraph channels.

Fortunately this scenery has changed significantly, and Embratel is pleased to be part of that revolution. Today, our country is connected to the rest of the world through every communication means and is provided with cutting-edge telecommunications services. Thanks to its pioneering, competitive nature, Embratel is always loking for new challenges. That's why we feel responsible for meeting Brazil's telecommunications requirements through optimum solutions and a differentiated service. And you - the one and only reason for Embratel's existence - take the most of it.

Cutting-edge technology and national integration.
Embratel was the first company in the industry to set universalization goals certified by Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel) in January of 2007. In that same year, with a pioneering project Embratel implemented the fiber optics system in the Amazon region and launched the third generation of communications satellites.
