"As ambulâncias da fraude" (The ambulances of fraud) published by Correio Braziliense is the outright winner of the 8th Embratel Press Award
The article "As ambulâncias da fraude" (The ambulances of fraud), a scandal that became known as "The leech mafia", by reporters Gustavo Krieger, Marcelo Rocha, Leonel Rocha, Luciene Soares, Ana Maria Campos, Lúcio Vaz and Ugo Braga, from Correio Braziliense newspaper, won the Barbosa Lima Sobrinho trophy, the most important prize distributed by the Embratel Press Award.

The "Barbosa Lima Sobrinho" Grand Prix was handed to journalists Lúcio Vaz and Marcelo Rocha,representing the Correio Braziliense team, by the presidents of Embratel, Carlos Henrique Moreira, and of the Rio de Janeiro Professional Journalists Union, Aziz Filho.
The Embratel Press Award, considered the most important tribute to the job of reporter in Brazil, was sponsored by Embratel and its satellite subsidiary Star One, thanks to the Cultural Incentive acts, to the Ministry of Culture and to the Culture Secretariat of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
The awarding ceremony was held in the evening of December 6, at Canecão in Rio de Janeiro, with the distribution of prizes to 19 journalistic works.

On the occasion, the Juri of the Embratel Press Award gave Honorable Mention to the work "Falcão - meninos do tráfico" (Falcão, the traffic boys) shown last March in the Fantástico Globo TV show, which was considered hors concours, since no reporters were engaged in its production, though it involved an exhaustive work of survey, editing, script and finishing, producing over 120 hours of film. The trophy was handed to the representative of the Fantástico Globo TV show, journalist Frederico Neves, by journalist and president of the Jury of the Embratel Press Award Janice Caetano.
